BEYOND THE CHECKBOX

Welcome to Beyond the CheckBox at UC San Diego.

Our aim was to illuminate the beautiful and ever evolving identities of the inspired, intellectual, and determined people who make up our university community. The title of the project was given by our intent to encourage the breaking of boundaries and to promote the expansion of opportunities to engage in the redefinition of individuals through more personal lenses, regardless of traditional social groups definitions. Inspiration and motivation for the project are rooted The Hapa Project, an exploration of multiracial identities, by artist Kip Fulbeck.
